About this deal

Der kleine Junge in diesem Buch hat ein großes Problem: Seine Eltern sind nicht mehr heile, sie wollen sich trennen und daher braucht er dringend Elternkleber aus dem Bastelladen. I think this book can help bring comfort to children going through this and lets students who haven't gone through this to sympathize with their classmates more.

The illustrations were very detailed and used warm toned colours which was quite effective in making me feel comforted whilst reading it. e. that you need ‘love’ and not ‘parent glue’ is so eloquently put across - Gray reminds us that love is a internalised feeling, that lives inside each and every one of us, and it is this image, this thought, and this emotion, that is able to override any sense of insecurity a child feels that is experiencing their parents going through a divorce. I think this book could be a very useful in the classroom, and read to nursery or reception children because it deals with such a relevant topic that any of them could experience. This message is conveyed in a meaningful way whilst being light hearted in the storyline approaching a difficult topic in a sensitive way. This book is written as a poem and tells the story of a little boy whos parents are getting divorced. This rhyming story is brilliantly told with a powerful message that even though his parents may be broken, their love for him is not. He goes on a hunt to try and find some glue to stick them back together but then realises that you cant find glue for the heart.

I would love to have a version of this book that is slight more general, without gendered parents for example to make sure all children could relate better to it if needed, but even so I think it's a great one. The illustrations represent how he feels as if his whole word is breaking apart until he finds comfort in the fact that his parents love for him will never break. This video link is provided to help an adult assess the book's suitability for a child's situation before purchasing it.Beautiful book from a child’s perspective of handling divorce- really makes you think about how a child may see a divorce of parents. Kes was voted by the Independent as one of the TOP TEN children's authors and he is the author of the award-winning Eat Your Peas and winner of the Red House Children's Book Award. However by removing the crack later in the story but still having the same whole page illustrations provides a key visual message that in time the situation does heal.
