About this deal

The main characters become more real with each book, but the setting here moves from Norfolk to Blackpool and Lytham with Ruh getting involved in what maybe the discovery of King Arthur's skeleton and the murder of an old friend. Elly Griffiths is the USA Today bestselling author of the Ruth Galloway and Brighton mystery series, as well as the standalone novels The Stranger Diaries, winner of the Edgar Award for Best Novel, The Postscript Murders, and Bleeding Heart Yard . By “strain,” he means the particular musical passage that is playing as he speaks, and the words “a dying fall” can only have meant some kind of fading cadence, a few slow notes that slip and disappear and that to him sound like the sound of dying. In this prison, which is closed to international observers, the detainees are locked in near-total darkness, and blindfolded or made to cover their eyes, and it is estimated that, since 2011, some 13,000 of them have been executed.

Ruth that is mooning over Nelson and not trying to be happy, Nelson that is complaining constantly about Ruth's personal life despite the fact that he has no right to do so since he has a settled life and a companion to go back to.The author pen name Elly Griffiths keeps you interested with arson, murder, suicide, kidnapping, etc. One of the most cinematic finales in recent crime fiction’ Daily Telegraph Dr Ruth Galloway, forensic archaeologist, spends a lot of time looking at death. Griffiths' books, well plotted and riveting until the last paragraph, leave the reader wanting more. This was a good opportunity for a different setting and the writing is great but I'm looking forward to getting back to Norfolk in the next novel. Ruth's daughter Kate is now a toddler and is the least convincing element of this book with her vocabulary changing from almost babylike to very adult.

So, the new, the familiar, and the nuance in the familiar make for a beloved, anticipated-next-book series. If not for my Goodreads friend (artist) Laura telling me something that included future books, I might have thought something had happened that did not, though another true possibility would have also been in my mind. Interestingly, Dan is the only other member of their archaeology course to still be involved in the unglamorous work of an academic, surprisingly occupying a role at the lowly Pendle University. This novel compared to the others is set in Blackpool and the surrounding area – which immediately means that one of the two main attractions of the series for me is rather missing.

Unfortunately her friend, Dan, has died in a suspicious fire before Ruth receives the letter from him requesting her help. I just finished this fifth book in the Ruth Galloway series, and I find myself in that place of grief for readers who have read all there is published so far in a favorite series.

A nice addition to the series--I love the main character, Ruth--and the location, which is another "character" in the stories. I’ve been dipping into this series on and off over a few years and it’s just dawned on me that the books would probably be categorised, partly at least, as cosy mysteries. But now death has found her, with the news that her long-time friend and ex-colleague Dan Golding has been killed in a house fire.Griffiths, like Elizabeth George, puts you smack amidst the English landscape in her scenes, characterizations, language, customs.

Forensic archeologist Ruth Galloway investigates a heart-stopping an old university friend and fellow archeologist murdered in an arson attack. But when she receives a letter that Dan had written just before he died, her sadness turns to suspicion. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. It doesn't take long for Golding's killer to set his/her sights on Ruth and worse, her toddler daughter, Ruth uses her considerable intellect, her enigmatic friend Cathbad, and the father of her daughter DCI Nelson to unravel the mystery even as other lives are claimed in the murderer's effort to stop Ruth from uncovering the truth.Harry Nelson, all take summer holiday trips to the vicinity of the site of the murder and dig, where they encounter a host of suspect fellow academics and locals, including someone who sends Ruth warning text messages.
